Thomas W. Rock, MD

Dr. Rock has been a practicing orthopedic surgeon since 1983, obtaining his board certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 1987. He graduated from Dartmouth Medical School in 1978. He served his Surgical Residency and Orthopedic Residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital from 1978 to 1982, served as Pediatric Orthopedic Resident at Newington Children’s Hospital from 1982-1983 and served as Chief Orthopedics Resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital from 1982 to 1983. He became a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners in 1987 and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in 1989.

Dr. Rock’s medical society memberships include: American Medical Association, Belknap County Medical Society, New Hampshire State Orthopedic Society, Eastern Orthopedic Association and Northeast Medical Association (NEMA) – President 1998-2000.

Dr. Rock attends and participates in advanced scientific medical meetings and review courses. Presentations include: NEMA 1994, “Biomaterials and Complex Joint Reconstruction”; in 1995, “Community Spine Dilemmas”; NEMA 1996, Course Chairman, Snowmass, CO, in 1998, “New Perspectives in Spine Surgery” and at the 1999 Annual Meeting gave the Presidential Address, “Crisis, NEMA and Building for the Medical Future”, NEMA 2000, “Custom Total Joint Replacements”, Steamboat Springs, CO, NEMA 2002, “Spine Surgery: Percutaneous Spinal Fusion”, Darvos, Switzerland, LRGHealthcare 2002, Spine Surgery: Percutaneous Spinal Fusion for the Community, Laconia, NH, NEMA 2005, “Skiing and Snowboarding: Is It Safe – An Orthopedic Assessment”, Bretton Woods, NH, Grand Rounds on “Kyphoplasty”, LRGHealthcare, and NEMA 2006, “Bone Graft Substitutes – Past and Future”, Zermatt, Switzerland.

Dr. Rock is a general orthopedist who specializes in joint replacements and spinal surgery. He has extensive experience with and minimally invasive disc surgery, spinal fusion and less invasive joint replacement as well as complex joint revisions. His hobbies include skiing, bow hunting, fly-fishing, tennis and running.
